Addressing the issue of how the public safety measures have been failing to protect women, several individuals across the globe have come up with various alternate ways in order to tackle these men who violate without thinking twice. 

Here are some of the peculiar Anti-Rape inventions which might aid in shielding women against harm:

1. The Anti-Rape Underwear

This product is designed by three Indian students. The “anti-rape underwear” made will deliver electric shocks and alert nearby police station and parents to potential assaults. 

It is dubbed as “SHE Anti-rape underwear”, SHE stands for Society Harnessing Equipment. It is actually a vest incorporated with an electric sensor circuit and a GPS system. When set off via a remote held by user, it will deliver 3800kV electric current through the culprit’s body and this gives a chance for the victim to escape.

2. FemDefence Tampon

A Swedish woman, Anita , has patented an anti-rape device named FemDefence The design is such that the woman moves while supporting the protective device in her vagina. The end contains a sharp pin which has a penetrating effect on the culprit’s penis in the event of a rape. However, the structure is such that the pin cannot wound the bearer.

3. Hairy Stockings

In June 2013, an image of a woman wearing hairy legtights has gone viral springing up from China's version of Twitter. Depicted as “super sexy, summertime anti-pervert full-leg-of-hair stockings, essential for all young girls going out”, sure took the internet like inferno.

The designer conceives that the sight of these hairy leg tights would put off potential rapists and perverts.

4. Anti-Rape Buckle

This design is conceived by a group of Swedish teenage girls. The military-style belt has a latch that can only be removed with the help of two hands and they think that it will discourage would-be rapists. One of the designers, 19-year-old Nadja Björk, stated, “It's like a reverse chastity belt”, signifying that the wearer is in control instead of being controlled.

They made the product as a part of a high school project in entrepreneurship, and the girls were successful in selling 300 of the belts in Sweden, priced at US $50.

5. Rape-Axe Condom

Invented by Dr. Sonette Ehlers, the device is not entailed to merely wound. Rather, it ruptures the skin and affixes itself, requiring medical attention in order to be removed. This Condom called Rape-Axe, a rape prevention   prophylactic designed to be worn by women, has jagged teeth that will dig into your attacker's penis when they try to force themselves on a victim.

6. The Injector

Ira Sherman named the anti-rape device he is invented as Dubbed as “The Injector”, has  two pneumatic syringes which inject tattoo dye and sedatives into a rapist. It serves two purposes, tattoos the culprit and stops the rapist.

7. Angel Wing Buzzing Anti-Rape Device

When a woman is confronted with danger, pull the rod’s personal alarm and a 90dB alarm sound will be issued. It’s a very beneficial tool to frighten thieves or notify the police.

8. Anti-Molestation Jacket

Nishant Priya and Shahzad Ahmadat, two students at India's National Institute of Fashion Technology, designed an "anti-molestation jacket". The device discharges 110 volts of electricity when it is exposed to undesirable advances. It works on the concept of a stun gun and when activated by a button will instantly stun and knock out an aggressor. 

9. The Snare

Another of Ira Sherman’s creations, the device is belt-styled that entraps and then brutally cuts the attacker with two sharp prongs.

10. Killer Tampon

In 2000, 72-year-old Jaap Haumann, a South African man, invented former prototypical anti-rape female tampon. The “killer tampon” featured a guillotine blade attached to a hollow cylinder which, if sprung, decapitates any intruding penile head.
